Hello! I'm a former Med/Surg and ICU Nurse who switched to Nursing Informatics 15+ years ago.
At that time, I didn't have a Master's degree in Nursing Informatics (actually, I had no Master's degree of any kind), no certifications, and no connections in the Nursing Informatics world to guide me.
But I didn't allow those challenges stop me from achieving my dream of becoming an Informatics Nurse.
Since switching to this career path:
♦ I've had the opportunity to work at some of the finest academic medical centers in the U.S. to implement numerous EHR projects, improve clinician workflows, and support patient safety.
♦ I became Epic certified in a clinical module (OpTime) and proficient in a non-clinical module (Security).
♦ I presented a poster at the Nursing Informatics Symposium at HIMSS Global Conference and Exposition, was an invited speaker at a Nurses Week symposium at the Sacramento VA, and was invited as a content creator partner by ViVE and Medfluencers for ViVE Event 2026.
♦ I had amazing jobs that enabled me to have a mostly hybrid remote work setup (aka work from home), giving me the the opportunity to spend significant time at home during my daughter's key formative years. This was priceless to me and my family.
♦ In addition to being a job applicant, I have also been a hiring manager in my recent job - where I was able to experience reviewing hundreds of resumes and interviewing dozens of applicants not just for Nursing Informatics roles but also for Business and Clinical Analyst, project manager, and contract roles.
♦ I was able to hire, orient, and mentor amazing Informatics Nurses in my full time job as a Clinical Informatics Manager.
♦ Over the years, I've also helped many other nurses launch their own careers in Nursing Informatics or health tech using a structured, repeatable system that I developed.
I'm excited to meet you soon and share with you the knowledge, analysis, and insights I've built up over 15 years of experience and expertise in this specialty.
See you on April 25!
